This business model also counts for 1/3 of the assignment. We were to create a dynamic business model that contained a “what-if analysis” using Excel 2007. This is the final product.

A little bit about me

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , on November 11, 2009 by adrianver

If you don’t really know me, two words describe me. One of them is fashion.

I absolutely LOVE fashion.  Anything from Alexander McQueen’s Fall couture shows to Karl Lagerfeld’s Spring Ready to Wear shows and everything in between. Cavalli, Gaultier, de la Renta, Prada, Saab.

You name it, I most likely love it.  As you might be also able to guess, GQ is my bible. Other magazines on top of my list include Details, Vogue and Flare. I love reading and studying the content of these magazines because it inspires me to be creative in whatever I do.

To me, fashion is the greatest art there is because we live our lives in it.

And the other word is…

Traveling! I love traveling. Just thinking about seeing the vast world out there gets me excited. Just this past summer, my family and I went on a trip to see London, Paris, Lucerne, Venice, Florence and Rome.

It was the best experience of my life. I loved every single city we visited, but the one I loved the most was Paris. The rich history, the culture, the language and most especially the fashion were things that made my vacation unforgettable.

Places I would love to visit include Rio de Janeiro, the Amalfi Coast and the city of Machu Picchu. These are just a few destinations on the long list of places I want to go.

One of my future goals is living and working in Australia. The country’s beauty and diversity make it such a wonderful place to live in. Hopefully, I could land an awesome job there one day!

Why choose BCIT?

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , on November 11, 2009 by adrianver

This commercial was from our MS Powerpoint 2007 Project. Our assignment was about why BCIT is the best choice when it comes to post secondary studies.

Unfortunately the video is a bit laggy, I apologize for this.

Enjoy!

World of Warcraft!

world of warcraft cover

For our MS Word 2007 assignment, we had to choose a computer related topic and make an eBook about it. Instead of picking a generic topic, my group and I decided to pick World of Warcraft. This is an immensely popular game which holds 62% of the MMOG (massive multiplayer online game) market. As of December 2008, there is more than 11.5 million monthly subscriptions. That is a LOT of gamers! This is obviously a huge market, hence it became our choice.

RIM Case Study

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , on November 11, 2009 by adrianver

The first case study we tackled in our Marketing class was about RIM’s Blackberry Storm. With Apple’s iPhone being its main competitor, RIM had to devise a strategy to compete with the world’s biggest and most successful smartphone producer.

Our job was actually to be in RIM’s shoes and devise the strategy to compete with Apple.

Peak Leadership

The Peak Leadership program is a set of events where the Student Association brings in a guest speaker who shares their success story and how they attained it. Right after the guest speaker is done, there is usually a networking event held at the Council Chambers. I got to meet other students from different programs with the same goal and motivation as I have. It was very exciting and it was a lot of fun.

Although I missed the last event, I am planning on attending the future events.

I want to thank Amanda Spear for organizing an awesome event. Good Job Amanda!

Car dealership model

excel thing

In this Excel assignment, we were tasked to make an example model of how car dealerships calculate commissions. This was by far the hardest assignment I have attempted.

This is just a model, I’m not 100% sure if this is what car dealers actually use.

Schmoozapalooza

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , on November 10, 2009 by adrianver

Besides the quirky name, this is an upcoming event that will be held in less than a month’s time. Organized by BCIT MA, AIM BCIT and the BCIT Alumni Association, this networking and fundraising event will be a great opportunity to meet with other marketing students, BCIT graduates and industry professionals. Even if I’m not in the Communications option, this is still an event that will give me a chance to network. I can’t wait!
