ThinkPINK presents… “Don’t Doubt Yourself, Be Yourself!”

At the beginning of this semester, I was enrolled in Event Marketing, our teacher, Carolyn Stern scared about half the class off with her opening speech. I’m thankful my group and I stuck it out because it became one of the best classes I’ve ever taken. My group consisted of 5 girls – Christi Chambers, Kelsey Koster, Natalie Bruene, Caitlyn Berry and myself. We came up with an event called “Don’t Doubt Yourself, Be Yourself!” The purpose of our event was to create a motivational and educational event that helped vanish self-doubt and insecurities by giving our audience 4 easy confidence building tips that can be applied to everyones’ daily routines.

We presented our event in two different rooms, one being the “Present Room” which we started off in that held all of our current self-doubts and insecurities. We showed them a PresentClip that displayed how much insecurities and self-doubt affects people on a daily basis.

We then moved into what we called the “Future Room” where we enriched our audiences’ mind of confidence building tips that helped them vanish their insecurities and self-doubt. We showed them the mirrored version of our Present Clip. Following our confidence building tips, we had an interactive fashion show where our audience members had the opportunity to showcase what they were proud of. To conclude our presentation, we said thanks to our sponsors, students, teachers, and everyone involved with our event.

My thinkPINK group had an amazing time planning the whole event, we through a fantastic event and were all lucky enough to have found some friends in the process.

Just remember…Don’t Doubt Yourself, Be Yourself.

Swimming

Stated in my Bio, I’ve always had a love for sports. Ever since I was 3 years old, I’ve been in the pool. Over the past couple of years, I’ve been asking myself if I should stick with swimming or whether I should pick up a new hobby. I’ve been swimming competitively for the last 11 years of my life, the pool is literally my home away from home. I could live without sweating chlorine and early mornings, but it’s been such a big part of my life that I don’t think I can give it up.

I don’t think I’d be able to give up that. All of the years full of laughter, tears, friendships and memories that will last us a lifetime. Definitely won’t be able to give it up.

Aritzia has been one of the top, most recognized womens fashion companies in the past 20 years. Started in The Hills in Kitsilano Vancouver in 1986, Aritzia has blossomed into a huge internationally recognized company. I got to opportunity to work for Aritzia and could not be any more excited to. Every year, Aritzia puts on two fashion shows to showcase their fall/winter and spring/summer lines. Since I’m now an employee of the company, I got to go to the fashion show!

The Wilfred Free Line was one of my favorites of the night! I had a lot of fun at my very first fashion show. Hopefully there will be plenty more to come in the future!

Leadership.

Leadership is an important characteristic for a manager to possess. An assignment we did in groups in my Organization Behavior class, we interviewed people in management positions and asked about their thoughts on leadership and what it meant to them. We went into great detail to put it in a written report , the report goes is based on five interviews we did with five different people in various management postions. Based on the interviews conducted, we discovered that leaders, whether they want to lead or not, have a great deal of responsibility. Leaders, just like managers deal with situations that force them to make decisions that won’t always make everyone happy, but is in the best interest of their employees and the organization.

Marketing Envrionmental Scan Analysis

This semester in Marketing 161 that I’m taking at Capilano University, we did an Environmental Scan Analysis in partners. Our environmental scan tested our knowledge of the basics of a SWOT analysis which includes figuring out the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats of an potential launch of an Online Bachelors of Business Administration Degree program at Capilano University.
