Hi my name is Dan Turner, I am 27 years of age and live in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I am currently a student at BCIT and am enrolled in their International Trade and Transportation program. I am excited to learn as much as possible during the next couple years and then head out into the world of trading, hopefully acquiring a sales position to get some experience in this industry. I am currently enrolled in a class called Information Systems and we use an online tutorial called Zen Course Sites. That is how I found out how to create Dan Turner’s e-portfolio. Can’t forget my other blog!! This was my first one for Information Systems class blog. We had to create a step by step tutorial on how to do a certain task in PowerPoint. My assignment was to show new users of PowerPoint how to insert a song from an audio disc. I gave visual examples on each post, making it easy for users not too familiar with Power Point to complete that aspect of the program. Click on the Blog if you would like to see!
When I first started at BCIT, we were formed into groups to see how each other would work with other people. Our group is called Danys Solutions, and I love these guys. We have succeeded quite well on all our group assigments, and this is a Team Charter that we have to follow during each of our tasks.
This was our first PowerPoint presentation and it was on Why We Chose BCIT?. We included video and effects to create a presentation that shows that hard work, and alot of effort pays off in the end, when you go to school at BCIT! After we were finished we got to put it on YouTube for the whole world to watch!
In my Informations Systems Class at school, we had to publish on LuLu.com a step by step instruction on how to use Google. It showed people a few tips on using the tools that Google has to offer. Here is a link to our presentation, Lulu.com
One of the important lessons we are learning in my Information Systems Class is how to use Microsoft Excel. This is one of our first assignments, it deals with a simple table showing the commissions and profits of a car dealership.
Langara Island Lodge is where I spend my summers as an employee. I am currently a dockhand there, and it is the most beautiful place in the world. You have the best salmon fishing around, a indescribable environment, and friendly staff. If you are planning a world class fishing trip, I highly recommend you do it through Langara Fishing Adventures!!
This marketing case study was primarily focused on price point. We took a product made by Canty International and devised three price alternatives, chose the best one and demonstrated how we would put this solution into effect. Marketing is one of my favourite classes in School, it uses both common sense and imagination.
I have been in the process of completing courses in the Pursuit of Excellence program. Through this dynamic workshop, participants learn, integrate and apply key elements of success in a short period of time. The Pursuit of Excellence is experiential education at its best, replacing what often takes years of experience to learn.
