My name is Harjot Gill and I am currently a first year student in the Financial Management Diploma at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. In the upcoming year, I would be interested in an opportunity to put my skills and experiences I have gained in a career. I will be graduating with a Financial Management Diploma in the year of 2011.
I recently started school at the British Columbia Institute of Technology for the Financial Management Diploma. I have learnt how to work with a team and achieve our goals by learning in my organization behavior class. I have gained the skill to manage time and complete any assignment on time with quality. The skills I’ve learnt from my business computer class is using powerpoint, microsoft word and excel. In other courses such as Marketing, Accounting and Math, I’ve learnt about the course concepts that I can use in my career to succeed.
In our business information systems class, my team and I had to prepare a powerpoint presentation on why we chose bcit. We worked together as a team to make this video and to outline our powerpoint presentation skills.
At the University of Fraser Valley, I was a part of the student association where we organized events and got involved with the students at the university. At the starting of the semester in September, I helped around the school planning and setting up information desks about programs.
For a part time job, I have been working at Sears for the past three years where I have learned customer service skills and how to do retail sales. The skills that I have learnt at this job have prepared me for my future career on how to interact with people and achieve goals.
My future career goals are to become a chartered accountant. To achieve this goal, I’m attending the British Columbia Institute of Technology to attain the skills and experiences I need to become a CA.
In our organizational behavior class, my team and I created a team charter on the ground rules and guidelines we would follow.
With my team in marketing, we did a powerpoint presentation on how to improve sales of blackberries. We used different strategies to figure out alternatives and find a solution using our marketing course concepts.
Another project, our role was to demonstrate our skills using Microsoft word. The topic that we chose was Facebook and we used different ways to format this document below. It can also be viewed on the website from the site lulu.com which is also included.
During our lab in our business systems information class, we had the opportunity to figure out how to use excel and learnt different ways to add tables and formulas. Below are lab assignments that I worked on using excel to create tables.
