I also have a diploma in audio engineering from a little school called Hot Sole Music (now Nimbus School of Recording Arts). Why BCIT?

Posted by: mhauer21 | November 17, 2009 | No Comment |

Why BCIT? Or to be more specific… Why choose BCIT? That’s the question my team and I answered in this video/powerpoint presentation we created for our Business Systems class.

You can find it here.

… the song credit in the video goes to the Eurythmics, for their 1981 hit “Sweet Dreams”. I didn’t write (though I wish I did), the Eurythmics did.

E Book

Posted by: mhauer21 | November 13, 2009 | No Comment |

I’ve recently posted a project for my Business Systems class online at LuLu.com. As a team of three (myself and two classmates), we were to create an E Book in Microsoft Word 2007. We chose to do ours on the social networking site Myspace. The book is a basic overview of Myspace, including it’s features, and some background information on the site. As per the project guidelines, all of the content is copied from Wikipedia using the creative commons license.

If you’d like to purchase it, or check it out, you can do so here. We’ll be donating any money made from the sale of this book to a charity of some sort.

Black City Lights

Posted by: mhauer21 | November 12, 2009 | No Comment |

… What is Black City Lights you ask. Well, it is the band I currently play with. I am the drummer of Black City Lights. We’re a pop rock trio with a tinge of reggae. I rather enjoy it. I have played drums for close to 10 year now. First in an army cadet band, then with the Robert Malcolm Memorial Pipe Band (yes, I wore a kilt!). I then moved onto a full drum kit, and played in various local rock bands through high school, and my first couple of years in college. I still continue to do so, with Black City Lights.

Feel free to check us out here.

If you’d like to book us, or have any feedback, feel free to contact me.

An event… or a get together.

Posted by: mhauer21 | November 12, 2009 | No Comment |

Last weekend I attended a “get together” with the majority of my set from BCIT. Your “set” is your class, and you spend a lot of time with these people. While we’ve been together in a classroom setting for 2 months now, we haven’t really put on a event like this yet. I found the experience to be a good one. It was all very casual, but I think we all know each other better after the experience.

Microsoft Word 2007

I recently completed a tutorial for my Business Systems class. My tutorial is on some of the functionality in Microsoft’s Word 2007. Specifically, my topic was using bold and italics in MS Word 2007.

You can find the tutorial here.

Audio Engineering.

Posted by: mhauer21 | November 12, 2009 | No Comment |

Well, as you may know, from reading other sections of this little blog I have here, I have a diploma in audio engineering. A lot of people are often confused as to exactly what audio engineering is. Let me clear it up for you… Audio engineering is the art of recording a sound source. This sound source can be anything, but is most often some sort of musical instrument.

I got this diploma from a school called Hot Sole Music. At the time it was based out of Port Coquitlam, BC. Hot Sole has since expanded and partnered with famous record producer Garth Richardson. It is now known as Nimbus School of Recording Arts, and is located in Vancouver, BC.

Audio engineering is a big passion of mine. I have been a musician for the better part of my life (I’m a drummer who sometimes dabbles in some guitar or keyboard), but I’ve found I enjoy being on the “other side of the glass” much more. I spend a lot of my time researching and looking into various theories and recording techniques. Sadly, at the moment I don’t have nearly as much time, or as many resources, as I’d like to be constantly bettering myself as an engineer.

If you happen to be interested in my services as an engineer, or would like to hear a demo track I’ve done, feel free to contact me.

Presentation: Porsche Panamera

Posted by: mhauer21 | November 12, 2009 | No Comment |

I recently did a presentation on the all new Porsche Panamera for my communications class. This allowed to do a presentation on something I am very passionate about, luxury automobiles. It also allowed me to analyze some marketing tactics used by Porsche, as well as their all new Panamera sedan. Here are a couple slides from my presentation.
