For the past year, I have been working as an administrative assistant at Investors Group Inc. Investors group is a financial firm providing financial and insurance planning to everyday people. My duties as an assistant includes the processing of transactions, the marketing of consultant and company, and general office correspondence. My experience with Investors group has allowed me relate in class topics to real life – business situations. I am able to immediately bring my MS Office Skills learned in the classroom as well as my communication and marketing skills. Below are some samples of the promotional work I designed and implemented for an event sponsored by Investors Group.

Students are encouraged to take action throughout 2009-2010 through Free The Children’s campaigns to raise awareness and funds for local and international initiatives. Donations will build schools and provide clean water and alternative income streams for some of the most impoverished people in the world.

On September 29th, leaders and speakers including Jason Mraz, Jane Goodall, Mia Farrow and his holiness the Dalai Lama joined 16 000 youth at GM place to support social change and compasion around the world. Free the Children co-founder Craig Keilburger has become one of my inspirational heroes. He is a great public speaker and motivator.

Below is an assignment for this Business Information Systems course (aka. BSYS 1000) that displays introductory functions in an Excel Spreadsheet format.

As required by the course, students are expected to be competent in oral presentations. Below is the slide show presentation of my first oral presentation.
 

The Marketing Communications program at BCIT will make you job-ready with essential skills for a wide range of employment opportunities in:

Because I am attending a Marketing program, the Intro to Marketing Course is identified as THE course to excel in. In the course, we are presented with Case Studies with one or many marketing dilemmas. Here is our presentation on our first Case Study with a topic of RIM’s Blackberry VS Apple’s Iphone:

“[The] course presents the study of factors that either influence or are influenced by people at work. Focuses on macro factors such as organizational structure, technology and environment; group factors such as group dynamics, leadership, conflict, change and decision-making; and individual factors such as personality, attitudes, perception and motivation” – BCIT Course Information

The course requires students to work in a pre-determined group on all major assignments. For our first assignment, we asked to create and implement a group or “Team Charter”. This charter highlights team goals and processes, and will be referred to throughout the course of the program.

Before attending my current school, British Columbia’s Institute of Technology, I attended both Douglas College and Simon Fraser University. My experience at these two schools only emphasized the fact that I needed to attend a school that ignites creativity and develops individuals into true professionals.

Within few weeks of classes at BCIT, we were assigned a MS PowerPoint project that expresses our reasons for attending the Institute of Technology. This is how my group presented our creativity. (unfortunately, the audio was disabled by YouTube)
